Warhammer Fantasy
The skies are dark and the winds blow from the North with a cold and cruel viciousness carrying with them the faint stench of violence, storms and magic. The race of man builds great cities with thick stone walls, whilst the stout Dwarves dig and build beneath the mountains, striving to regain a glory long lost. Ancient Elves sing of losses they can never replace whilst honing their blades and their martial skills and the guardians of the Old Ones ponder the patterns of the heavens and direct their implacable forces to where they are needed most. They are the forces that would seek to maintain order in the Old World. They strive in vain. Greenskinned tides of muscle and rage tear at the walls in an unstoppable rampage. Vile beasts from the vast forests hew and hack and devour, howling with bloodlust as they destroy and the cruel and cold hearted brethren of the Elves kill, enslave and torture whilst dreaming of reclaiming what they believe to be theirs.
They are but nothing when compared with the true threat to the forces of order. Chaos, the antithesis of order. The dark seeking to extinguish the light. Mutated warriors fight with sword and tentacle alike, howling fiends gibber unintelligible filth, gore stained deamons bound forward anxious to kill and above them all stride the soul destroying and terror inducing greater deamons, horrific manifestations of their foul gods. All they seek is death and destruction. Vast hordes mass in the North waiting for the leader who will deliver them their inevitable victory and bring about the end of the world as we know it. Who will stand against them? Who will stand for them?
Warhammer Fantasy Battles is a game of epic battles played with armies of miniatures across a 6ft x 4ft battlefield littered with scenery. The only real limit is your imagination and a set of rules that dictate how many miniatures you and your opponent are allowed to take and how they will fight on the battlefield. . Warhammer can be both a fun and character driven game to pick up and play with friends or a competitive battle of wits and strategy where you can test your mettle against other generals across the world.
Choose to play as the staunch, armour clad Knights of the Empire backed up with cannons, great wizards and endless levies of peasant troops or become one with the fury and violence of the Orcs and Goblins hammering at tour opponent with muscle and crude weaponry whilst bombarding them with ramshackle war machines and stomping on them with immense giants. If that does not excite you then try any other of the 14 or so races that currently have a rulebook and extensive model range to support them. Read, paint and devise your strategy. The world of Warhammer awaits.
