Volunteering at Q-Con

XXIII Volunteers

Q-Con is fast approaching, that means we’re looking for volunteers who can help to not only make it happen, but make it stay awesome. Last year over 7700 attendees spent their weekend playing games and making friends, all thanks to the work of Q-Con's enthusiastic volunteers!

There is no “I” in Team, but there is “U” in Volunteer!!!

Q-Con is the biggest non-profit gaming & anime convention in the country... but it's run entirely by our incredible community volunteers, who dedicate their weekend to the convention. Red Shirts, Specialists, Managers, and Directors all pour their hearts & souls into making sure it's well organised and runs smoothly. They listen to our attendee's feedback and want every tournament, stage production, show, screening, and hall to be the best it can be - because we're all just fans who want to give something back to our community.

We have lots of Veterans, but every year we need to bolster our ranks with new enthusiastic volunteers to assist with running areas of the convention - Registration, Operations, Logistics, Cosplay, Production, and Technical. You don’t have to be a gamer or have volunteer experience – our volunteer training makes sure you know what you’re doing, and are comfortable doing it... we respect our volunteers as much as our attendees.

Q-Con volunteering is a super rewarding experience. You can put it on your CV, learn transferable skills (Technical, Organising, Planning, Leadership, Gaming), and meet new friends! Also, Students who take part can earn their Millennium Volunteers 50 hours award, and this can then be put towards their Degree Plus Route B.

Q-Con volunteering is a super rewarding experience so what will you get out of it? How about...

      • The satisfaction of helping to run the biggest convention of its kind in the UK or Ireland
      • Transferrable training and skills that enhance your CV
      • Exclusive volunteer t-shirts and badges
      • Discounted rates for convention accommodation, if you’re travelling from afar
      • The chance to hang out with some really cool people (the rest of the Q-Con crew!)
      • Lunch, dinner and refreshments all weekend, including an invitation to the post-con dinner
      • Students can earn their Millennium Volunteers 50 hours award, and credit towards Degree Plus Route B.

If you'd like to find out more, or are interested in signing up, please email volunteer@q-con.org.uk for an information pack.

Volunteers are expected to be fully available from Friday 16th-Sunday 18th June and must also attend a full day of training on either June 3rd or 4th. Please note that all volunteers must be over 18 years of age.
